Initiator
For the first time, UEGF and EASL join efforts and organize the first UEGF-EASL Professional Trainee Course in 2010!

This joint educational activity on Cholestatic Liver Disease will take place from Thursday evening till Saturday afternoon, July 8-10, 2010 at the Medical Sciences Teaching Centre in Oxford, UK. 100 young fellows in training for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, radiologists, surgeons and physicians in the last year of internal medicine a/o paediatrics training are invited to participate in this high quality educational programme, gaining new insight into some of the most important issues in Gastroenterology and Hepatology of today.

Participants are required to arrive not later as 17:00 on Thursday, July 8, 2010 for onsite registration at Wadham College Oxford www.wadham.ox.ac.uk

Aims
The course programme is designed to assist fellows and trainees in gastroenterology and hepatology in expanding their knowledge and developing their skills. State-of-the-art lectures, clinical case presentations and interactive parallel workshops shall train the participants in theoretical analyses and practical methods. A high quality educational training and intense scientific interaction with top experts in the field will be guaranteed.

Sessions will cover latest science and clinical information, including treatment and diagnostic issues and expose candidates to a number of real-life examples. State-of-the-art concepts and procedures will be analyzed to further open discussions and boost a vivid exchange of ideas.

Programme
The components of the programme are a mixture of state-of-the-art lectures and clinical case presentations as well as parallel workshops on ERCP, Endoscopic interventions, Cholestatic liver through the microscope and Drug induced cholestasis.

Successful candidates will be asked to choose two different out of four parallel workshops. The possibility to attend one workshop on Friday and Saturday, July 9 and 10, 2010 will be guaranteed. Selection will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.

Application
UEGF and EASL invite young fellows in training, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, surgeons, trainees in internal medicine a/o paediatrics training with interest in cholestatic liver disease to apply online

Applicants will be asked to fill in the online application form and upload a short curriculum vitae (1 page) and in addition, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a clinical case based on some form of cholestasis. Best case submitters will be asked to present their cases onsite and recieve the registration for the course!

Selection process
Participation is by selection only. Notification of invitation to participate will be provided via e-mail. In case of being selected, a course fee of EUR 100 has to be paid to confirm the registration. Best case submitters recieve free registration for the course!

A maximum of 100 trainees will be selected. Selection is based on criteria of academic excellence, balance of specialities covered, age and regional and gender representation. The final selection will be done by the responsible course managers. Applicants will be notified via e-mail about their application status by mid May, 2010.

Please note that travel reimbursement cannot be provided. Attendees are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. All selected nominees are required to attend the UEGF-EASL Professional Trainee Course in full (July 8-10, 2010 inclusive).
